Rotoma & Rotoiti
WWTP & Land Disposal System Concept Design

We investigated options for a sewerage scheme for the lakeside communities of Rotoiti and Rotoma and subsequently developed a concept design for a WWTP and LDS utilising chemically assisted membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology and disposal to a rapid infiltration trench system.

We have subsequently undertaken a detailed design of the $15M wastewater collection and conveyance system which has utilised a septic tank effluent pump (STEP) system and a series of transfer pump stations and rising mains. We have also undertaken a detailed design of a UV disinfection system to allow for offsite beneficial reuse of the treated effluent from the MBR-based WWTP. A feature of the project has been the development of the options, design and construction requirements to align closely with local iwi values.
