Tristan has over 15 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer, most notably in the contaminated land management sector. His recent work has included contaminated site investigation, remediation, validation, risk assessment and long term management; and preparation of an assessment of environmental effects and resource consent applications. A particular area of expertise is around asbestos where Tristan has designed and managed many asbestos survey, removal and certification projects, and completed human health risk assessments and asbestos management plans. He has an in-depth knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 and relevant asbestos guideline documents.
Currently (since mid-2018) Tristan spends much of his time managing the New Zealand-ASEAN Renewable Energy Facility, funded by the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. At present, he is based in Vientiane, Lao PDR. ASEAN is a rapidly developing part of the world and energy demand is increasing rapidly. The Facility supports the Government of Lao PDR to promote the use of renewable energies rather than fossil fuel in response to climate change and other drivers.
