We’re delighted to have been part of this ground-breaking project with Auckland Transport, working jointly with Koru Environmental and Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research to develop designs for living bus shelters being trialled in Panmure and Manukau. These are believed to be the first living bus shelters in Aotearoa and were celebrated this week at a small opening ceremony attended by Hamish Jones and Linda Shamrock from our team.

Living roofs (or green roofs) are vegetative covered roofs made of specially designed growing media, overlying a drainage layer that includes a root-proof and water-proof membrane. They provide numerous stormwater benefits and look good too! These roofs filter air pollutants, reduce heat, create pollinator pathways and help to bring nature back into our urban environments.
