Telemetry Platform

We have developed a telemetry platform for the collection of real-time data, allowing us to increase the wide array of environmental monitoring services offered.  The telemetry platform will be offered as an additional service and can be added to projects upon request.

The system makes use of non-proprietary, affordable and readily available technology coupled with hardware and onboard software that has been designed and developed in-house.  This allows us to deliver a highly adaptable, customisable and low-cost solution for both client and site-specific projects.

 

How it Works:

  • Sensors collect environmental data
  • Sensors connected to a node which is part of a wider “digital mesh” of nodes which communicate wirelessly to each other
  • All nodes send the sensor readings to a central hub
  • The central hub reports readings via a 3G/4G connection and data uploaded to our servers
  • The use of a central hub reduces installation fees and ongoing costs as only the hub requires a 3G/4G connection to upload data to our server
  • Data available from our server for client use

Christchurch Groundwater Monitoring

  • Environmental real-time monitoring of groundwater levels and rainfall.
  • Water level sensors provide an alert system.  When groundwater levels exceed a trigger point a text is sent to pre-determined cell phone numbers to enable an immediate response.

Auckland Raingarden Monitoring
This project involved real-time monitoring of raingarden performance during rain events.  The data was used to:

  • Determine if the raingardens are functioning as designed
  • Inform a more targeted maintenance approach
  • Identify if the system is bypassing earlier than expected
