Service Leader – Environmental Planning

Mike is a planner with 15 years of experience in local and central government. He has a technical background in air quality and environmental health and has worked on a wide range of complex consenting projects including for municipal discharges, farming consents, landfills and fumigation.  

He has also specialised in decision-making under the RMA and has made over two thousand notification and substantive decisions on consent applications.  

Mike has been a driver behind sector improvement in planning, working locally in councils and also through 3 years on RMA policy and implementation in central government. Mike’s skills are well recognised in the regional council sector, having been convenor of the regional councils’ national Consents Managers Group.
