Marinus is a remote sensing scientist/ecologist with 13 years of experience in environmental consulting. He uses remote sensing technologies to inform and enhance decision making. Marinus specialises in image interpretation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutionsUAV photogrammetry, and using aerial data capture technologies. His combined involvement in the environmental planning and remote sensing industry equipped him to service the environmental, engineering and agricultural sectors.  
 
Marinus also has 9 years of experience in wetland assessment and mapping across various ecological regions in South Africa, neighbouring countries including New Zealand. He completed approximately 100 detailed wetland assessments (delineation and condition assessments). Marinus is actively developing landscape-scale wetland detection technologies and ecological AI solutions suited for New Zealand conditions. His wetland consulting experience includes delineation, classification, the use of rapid tools to assess wetland condition (health), values (ecosystem services), risk assessment, scientific buffer calculation, impact assessment and rehabilitation/restoration.
