Engineering Geology

At PDP, we provide engineering geological services for projects such as dams, tunnels, pipeline corridors and mining, with complementary hydrogeological and geotechnical capabilities to support analyses and interpretation.

Engineering geology services that we provide include: Typical PDP projects:

  • Ground investigations (drilling, test-pitting, sample testing)
  • Interpretation of remotely sensed data
  • Geological and geomorphic field mapping
  • Route selection for lifeline services
  • Slope stability and hazard assessment
  • Development of geological and hydrogeological models
  • Slope stabilisation design
  • Remedial works supervision
  • Design and installation of deformation monitoring networks
  • Engineering geological mapping of tunnels, shafts, trenches and buttress foundations for a large dam project. Development of models of landslide mechanisms and associated groundwater regimes.
  • Engineering geological investigations and assessment of areas of instability along pipeline corridors. Remediation recommendations. Engineering geological assessment of alternative routes for existing pipeline.
  • Investigation of the effects of deep excavation for a development project on groundwater drainage. Investigation of the effects of potential settlement on a nearby historic building.
  • Review of potential settlement effects on a township and rural outskirts due to mine dewatering. Review of complex hydrogeological model and settlement calculations.
